  2. Main Sites There were five main Countries/Sites of the Crusades.

  3. Edessa • The County of Edessa was separated from all the other countries of the Crusades. • Edessa was home to Baldwin II and his army

  4. Antioch • Antioch was located just south of Edessa and was home to the Byzantine Empire. • It was captured by the Seljuks in 1085

  5. Tripoli • Tripoli is south of Antioch found in present day Syria • It was home to Bertrand of Toulouse • It was created in 1109

  6. Acre • Acre is South of Tripoli located in Western Galilee • It was ruled by Arab Caliphates • It was the main port of the eastern Mediterranean since 1170

  7. Jerusalem • Jerusalem is south of Acre and the last of the five main Countries/Sites of the Crusades • This was considered the holy land to all Christians, Muslims, and Jews
