Today’s Focus: Employment Level 1 of the complaint process (informal) directly involves District administrators • Employee to discuss concerns with supervisor, or Superintendent’s designee within 60 days • Employee may ask to include the District Compliance Officer • This is an informal process intended to resolve the complaint • If the supervisor is the source of the complaint, the employee may contact the Compliance Officer directly
Next Steps If the employee is not satisfied at Level 1: • Level 2: Complaint filed in writing, investigated within 30 days, and Superintendent responds within 30 days of end of investigation • Level 3: Employee may appeal to the School Board within 10 days, the Board holds a hearing within 20 days, and issues a written decision within 10 days • Level 4: Employee may appeal to OSPI
Record Keeping The compliance officer is responsible for keeping all correspondence related to each complaint, and the resolution (including corrective measures) for five years. If you handle a Level 1 complaint, be sure Human Resources and Equity & Achievement have a copy of your records of the matter.
