Remember • Never use first or second person. • Forms of this are: • I, my, mine, we, our, ours • You, yours, your
You must • Tie the image to the tone . . • Williams displays a bitter tone. • “Rousing with anger in her tones to cry for food.”You must explain how you interpret that image as bitter . . . • “It is possible that he did not have a strong relationship with his grandmother, seeing that he was rather harsh or condescending in his poem.” I don’t understand how the writer sees this image as bitter. The writer’s thought process needs to be better explained How can we do this??
Williams displays a bitter tone. • “Rousing with anger in her tones to cry for food.” • This image brings to mind a very angry old women who demands to be fed by those around her. Since the poet was her grandson, it can be concluded that he heard her and he was the one that had to feed her. This would make someone bitter because dealing with an angry, crabby old woman is not pleasant.
