Patients Assessed with The SIRS Criteria Patients who met more than 2 items of the SIRS criteria were defined as SIRS patients while patients who met 0 or 1 item of the SIRS criteria were defined as non-SIRS patients. In this study, SIRS patients were further classified into 3 sub-groups. SIRS-2, 3 and 4 indicate patients who had 2, 3, and 4 items positive in the SIRS criteria, respectively.
