Analysis of research funding by medium and smaller sized charities • UK Health Research Analysis (2006) analysed portfolios of 11 largest Government and charity funders of health related research • New analysis (2007) includes 29 medium & smaller sized AMRC members charities • Two analyses combined give 96% coverage of AMRC members’ research spend • Same methodology – used UKCRC Health Research Classification • £63.7m expenditure on 1496 peer reviewed awards 1st April 2004 – 31st March 2005 in UK • Provides more comprehensive overview of the charity sector contribution to health research funding in the UK
