  2. Background • Approved by SCOH and AASHTO Board of Directors, May 7, 2005 • TSP·2 implemented in 3 Phases • 1. Technical Services • Awarded and Contract Executed with the National Center for Pavement Preservation May 2006 • 2. Pavement Preservation Regional Partnerships • Approved and Executed September 2007 • 3. Bridge Preservation Technical Services and Regional Bridge Preservation Partnerships • Pending Approval

  3. Background • Current voluntary contribution is $9,500 for Phases 1 and 2. • TSP·2 is financially supported by 38 states and 1 Canadian province • TSP·2 worked with Northwestern University & FHWA to cultivate Bridge Preservation

  5. Preservation Help Desk • At least 700 requests for assistance have been received • Requests in second year of operation increased by 87% over the first year • Topics include: • Preservation Treatments • Application Conditions • Materials • Asset Management

  6. Website and On-line Services • Between November 2006 and August 2008 totals approximately 1.6 million hits • Monthly hits have increased over 11- fold from November 2006 to August 2008 • Bridge Preservation added <1 month ago, have had over 2,000 bridge content hits

  8. Technical Transfer • Development, hosting, and staffing of a TSP•2 information booth • Providing speakers at numerous professional venues across the nation • Development of surveys for pavement preservation treatment technologies

  9. Regional Pavement Preservation Partnerships • Establishment and facilitation of regional partnerships: • Midwestern • Northeast • Southeastern • Rocky Mountain

  10. Next Steps • Pending AASHTO approval, expand TSP·2 Program to include: • Bridge Preservation Outreach and Help Desk • Bridge Preservation Website and On-line Library • Establish and Facilitate Bridge Preservation Partnerships

  11. Next Steps • Proposed voluntary contribution is $20,000 for Phases 1, 2 and 3. (Combined pavements & bridges) • Approved use of 100% SP&R funds to cover voluntary contribution (State match not required) • RFP for bridge preservation contractor to be developed by TSP·2 Oversight Panel
