Motion Sensor Lights or Fluorescents? By: Skyler Milton and Atley Green
Motion Sensor Lights • Motion sensor lights are more efficient using incandescent light bulbs. It takes more energy turning fluorescent lights on/off because the ballast takes more energy to turn on rather than leaving it on. The incandescent bulbs don’t have a ballast so they don’t have that problem.
Fluorescent Bulbs • Our school uses Sylvania F032 bulbs. • T8 tube with electronic ballast 80–100 • This is just another name for this.
Incandescent Light Bulbs • Phillips incandescent lamps lumens watts 105 15 This is actually more efficient than the fluorescent bulbs our school uses.
Lumens/Watts • Lumen is the light output • Wattage is electrical usage • The most efficient light bulb would have high lumens per low watts
Place for Motion Sensor Lights • For the motion sensor lights we thought the bathroom would be the best place because people aren’t in the bathroom at all times. • We considered the hallway but thought it wouldn’t be the best solution because people are in that area so much. The hallway is such a busy place.
In Conclusion… • This could be a good solution because the incandescent light bulbs that could go into the motion sensor lights are more efficient than the ones we currently use. Solution Putting motion sensor lights In the bathroom.
