The Gospel is God’s Power To Save – 1:16 • All Men Need To Be Saved – 1:18-3:23 • Cannot Be Saved Through A System that demands perfect law keeping – 3:10-5:5; Gal. 3:10,11 • But God Has Provided a System Through Which We Can Be Saved – “By Grace through Faith” - 5:6-8; 6:23; 11:6; (Eph. 2:8-10) • God’s grace is abundant, available to all (5:15-18, 20,21). • Teaches and requires holiness & obedience –12:1-3; 1:5; 6:16-18; 10:16; 16:25,26; (Titus 2:11,12) W. 65th St church of Christ - 10/30/205

  3. God’s Grace Has The Power To Deliver Us From The Bondage of Sin • The Christian Is NOT To Continue In Sin! – 6:1,2 • The Christian Has Died To Sin! – 6:3-8 • Sin No Longer Has Dominion! – 6:9-14 • He Is To Be A Servant of Righteousness! – 6:15-23 W. 65th St church of Christ - 10/30/205

  6. The Person Without This Deliverance & Salvation • Delivered from the Law to be married to another! – 7:1-6 • Sin brought death through the Law! Yet the Law was holy, just & good! It is the one who violates it that is unholy, unjust, & not good – 7:7-12 • What is the state of a person trying to find justification apart from Christ? 7:13-25 W. 65th St church of Christ - 10/30/205

The Person Without This Deliverance & Salvation • He is dead! – 7:8-11 • Carnal, sold under sin! – 7:14 • Sense of guilt - for he knows that he is NOT doing what the Law teaches & requires! 7:15-22 • The indwelling of sin! 7:17,20 • Cannot find how to do what is good!! 7:18 • Bondage, captivity! 7:14,24 • Wretched & Miserable! 7:23-25 W. 65th St church of Christ - 10/30/205

  8. The Person Without This Deliverance & Salvation Romans 7:23-25 (NKJV) . . . [24] O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? • Those under the Law CANNOT make their wrongs right – • The Law demanded justice with no provision for pardon! 7:23-25 W. 65th St church of Christ - 10/30/205

  9. The Person Without This Deliverance & Salvation Romans 7:23-25 (NKJV) . . . [24] O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? [25] . . . So then, with the mind I myself serve the law of God, but with the flesh the law of sin. • Not two masters at the same time – Mat. 6:24 • Not the body sinning and the mind, (spirit), not sinning – 6:13,19; 8:1-8; 12:1,2 W. 65th St church of Christ - 10/30/205

  10. The Person Without This Deliverance & Salvation I thank God--through Jesus Christ our Lord! Romans 7:25 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. [2] For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. - Romans 8:1-2 (NKJV) I thank God--through Jesus Christ our Lord! The Person Without This Deliverance & Salvation • Not the Faithful Christian of: • 6:1,2 - NOT to Continue In Sin! – • 6:2-10 - Has Died To Sin & alive to God! – • 6:9-14 - Sin No Longer Has Dominion! • 6:15-23 – Body no longer to be a servant of sin but rather a servant of righteousness! • 8:1,2 - Free from the law of sin & death – • 8:1,2-8 - Walks according to the law of the Spirit! – (thus led by the Spirit! – 8:14-17) • 8:9-13 - Has put to death the deeds of the body to live for God – (6:13; 1 Cor. 6:13) • 8:29,30 - is conformed to the image of Jesus! Conclusion • Romans 7:14-25 is an inspired depiction of a man who is confused, frustrated and helpless to justify himself, once having sinned against God’s law, and not having accepted the grace of God that is in Jesus Christ! • Is this you?? – You can be delivered!!!   13. Conclusion But Through The Power of God's Grace The Christian Can Have Dominion Over Sin • Romans 6:1-2 (NKJV) What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? [2] Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it? • Romans 8:1-2 (NKJV) There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. Conclusion • There is more involved in the Grace of God than just the fact that God has provided a means of forgiveness for sin!! – Eph. 2:1-10 • The Grace of God is powerful, and it is to have abiding results in the child of God!! – Titus 2:11-14; Romans 6;8;12:1,2 W. 65th St church of Christ - 10/30/205

Conclusion • Romans 12:1-2 (NKJV) I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. [2] And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
