Student Achievement Team: Purpose • Identify cultural and institutional conditions that influence student academic achievement, particularly retention. • Identify, recommend, and assess best practices. • Communicate these strategies to the Appalachian community. http://achievement.appstate.edu/
Student Achievement Team: Members • Faculty, including representatives from each academic college • Staff, including representatives from student services and student activities that directly impact student achievement • Students, including SGA representatives
Student Achievement Team: Roles • Each member is assigned to a minimum of one committee each academic year. Student Achievement Team: History • Founded as a Retention Management Team in 2003 • Charged by the Chancellor • Now, a sub-group of Enrollment Planning Council
Enrollment Planning Council • Executive group that will construct enrollment projections for the University • Consider large-scale, fundamental enrollment issues • Coordinate the creation of a strategic plan for enrollment management • Approve enrollment initiatives as they align with the strategic plan for enrollment management • Set priorities for sub-groups based upon each group’s goals for the academic year • Communicate with Deans Council, AP&P, & Chancellor’s Cabinet, as needed
Enrollment Planning Council Student Achievement Team (Retention) Transfer Services Committee & Transfer Advisory Board Undergraduate Student Recruitment & Transition Team University Undergraduate Advising Council Associate Deans AppLeap (Technology) • Purpose • To review and approve project management plans for technology initiatives • To ensure integration of all projects in BANNER. • Purpose • Manage class seat needs • Provide updates on enrollment • Improve communication from EM to depts • Discuss changes needed in Banner • Approve academic initiatives • Purpose • Identify cultural and institutional conditions that influence student academic achievement, particularly retention • Identify, recommend, and assess best practices • Communicate these strategies to the Appalachian community. • Purpose • Make recommendations regarding the recruitment of new students to meet strategic goals • Make recommendations to create a seamless student transition • Share recruitment numbers • Purpose - TSC • Advocate for services for transfer students • Assess and recommend improvements for the transfer student transition • Purpose – TAB • Enable/improve communication with community colleges • Develop policy and procedures to improve transition • Purpose • Make recommendations for improvement and consistency in academic advisement • Assess academic advisement • Recommend technological enhancements for advisement • Facilitate communication among advisors
