Brief Biography • Born in Vytegra, 1932 • Family moved when he was very small to Murmansk, where he grew up • But he and his wife owned a house in Vytegra and another on the shore of Lake Onega, in the village of Golyashi • Used a wide range of techniques, but favored linocuts • Drew and painted landscapes, portraits, village and town scenes • Very interested in the far north (above Arctic Circle; but also took themes from the Vytegra area)
