  1. Look at the primary source clues carefully. Determine what you see, and what questions you might ask to get the big picture. Discuss quietly with your table group as we progress.

  2. What shapes and patterns do you see in this picture?

  3. Where do you think this picture was taken? What makes you think that?

  4. When do you think this picture might have been taken? What makes you think that? What might all the people in this picture have in common?

  5. Some of the people in this photograph are holding signs. What do you think might be written on these signs?

  6. Do you think this is an important photograph to study? Why or why not? What sounds would you expect to hear if you were where this picture was taken?
