Marketing 101 • In general getting out there and meeting people face to face is the most effective way to market yourself. • When you are networking, performing inspections, always hand out business cards and marketing materials. • When performing home inspections, impress the client, buyers agent, seller, and sellers agent with exceptional service.
Marketing techniques that have worked for me: • Joined a networking group called LeTip • 30 members in my chapter selling for me • Direct and indirect leads/jobs (Inspections and Energy Evaluations) • Established relationships with 2 HVAC companies providing leads for Energy Evaluations • Attended agent open houses • Joined local board of trade – “get your name out there” • Attend breakfast meetings and after hour events • On-line advertising – google local ads, yellow pages on-line • * google Home Inspector Markham – my name comes up on top of the list • Estimate 20% of my inspections from on-line leads • Establish professional business cards and marketing materials • *** Diversify Your Business ***
2010 – Purchased additional advertising • Purchased “a spot” in a local real estate flyer • High profile agent selling 250 – 300 homes per year • Negotiated to be the only home inspector in the flyer • Objective is to get leads but just as important, setup a relationship with the agent and her team
2010 – Franchise Goals • Continue to establish and track monthly revenue targets • Target high performing leads (from 2009 tracking) • Improve company processes • Outsource Energy Evaluation data entry and processing • Establish technical database to be available on laptop • Centralized scheduling system • Budget management (expenses, revenue, government payments) • Staff for April 2010 – Nov 2010 • Continue training (e.g. HRV Balancing, WETT) • Improve advertising campaign for real estate offices and agents
