  2. Background - Quick summary • 2009 ECCVT proposed formation of aninter organisational working group (iEBVPD) - to consult with stakeholders & to develop post graduate program standards for practitioners .

  5. New Name : • Veterinary Continuous Education in Europe committee • VetCEE • Proceed with Pilot • Interim business plan ( long term plan informed by experience of pilot ) • Draft statutes frozen until completion of pilot (in order to defer legal costs) 5

  6. Objectives - Key points : • Validation process for accrediting programs • Standardsfor all all groups • Dossier of competencies and module descriptors for each program group

  7. Background - Quick summary.. • Recognise & embrace existing systems that meet standards . • Mutual recognition of programs across Europe... • Guarantee consistencyin level , amount of education and principles of scope across programs

Standards • Level : European Qualifications Framework EQF level 7Scope: Mainly species (or species group) orientation with possibility of broad discipline orientation.Amount of education : 30 ECTS units of learning 1 ECTS units equates to approx. 25 hours of blended learning .Total program learning inputs approx. 600 hours over average 3 years ie 6 hours per week • Pre requisitesfor enrolment to be defined ( with flexibility) Minimum and maximum duration of program to flexible with boundaries e.g 1 to 10 years to facilitate career breaks etc • Quality assurance of program delivery and assessment

  9. Standards • VetCEE will provide Accreditation • & • facilitate mutual recognition • of programs

  10. Awards, Qualifications Qualifications are Awarded by an appropriate recognised awarding Body • TitlesTitles and post nominals are a matter for the National Statutory Authority .

Next steps • Validation SOPs & Guidelines: • Complete autumn 2012 • Pilot: test Standards, Validation process and financial requirements phase 1 Autumn 2012 • phase 2 trial validations Jan 2013. • Sub committees & Dossiers of competencies : • CA, Lab animals complete by end 2012 • Additional sub committees .. 13
