Background • Sub-Saharan Africa urban population growth at 6% per annum • 250 Million urbanites have no access to safe water • 400Million have no adequate sanitation • Increasing poverty • Urban activities account for 50-90% of GDP • The poor pay more than the rich for much lower quality services
