Functions- Modern Uses Video Camera- records moving images and sound iPod- portable music player invented by Apple Walkie Talkie- allows two people to communicate from different locations Lap Counter- located on the user’s wrist & counts the number of laps swum Stopwatch- records times and splits of races Self-Tightening Power Shoes- uses small motors to tighten shoe laces by pressing and holding a button Photochromic Lenses- darken when sensing UV light - made by embedding microchrystallinesilver hallicles or modules in glass Prescription Glasses- allow sight impaired people to see better Voice Command- allows user to perform different commands

Functions- Future Uses Video Camera- records underwater footage iPod- located on the goggle straps - projects music choice into swimmer’s ears SwimmiTalki- advanced walkie-talkie - goes underwater - allows coach to contact swimmer during a race Lap Counter- speaks number of laps out of speakers after each completed lap Lens Screen- transparent screen on the inside of the lens that have certain features appearing on it Lap Timer- projects splits and overall time onto lens screen Auto-Adjust Straps- tightens or loosens goggle straps to fit the user’s head Photochromic Lenses-enhances swimmer’s vision by sensing light and lightening or darkening accordingly

  4. Prescription Lenses- help sight impaired swimmers to see clearly Speak Button- works by voice command - push and command desired features to activate

  5. Consequences Positive- advance the sport of swimming - coach can encourage or direct their race - popularize the sport of swimming - make swimming more fun Negative- speakers volume could distract other swimmers - voice command can be inaccurate

Breakthroughs SwimmiTalki- goes one way (coach to swimmer) - similar to a waterproof walkie talkie Auto-Adjust- straps automatically adjust to the wearer’s head - activated by voice command Lens Screen- transparent screen on the inside of the lens - images can only be seen by the wearer - timer, lap number, song choice

  7. Conclusion In 20 years, competitive swimming may be changed by the hydraEYE. Could provide the next generation more opportunities to have fun while exercising. Could encourage more people to take part in the sport of swimming.
