District Work • Created and continue to create writing Assessment prompts for ERWC in collaboration with Ms. Jefferylynn Davis (ESUHSD SAC) • Working with a District Writing Team to create Common Core Rubrics and writing assessments that will be used at all ESUHSD high schools • Providing ERWC New, 9th-11th, and Graduate Training sessions as one of the Santa Clara County ERWC Trainers for ESUHSD
English Department • As Department Chair, lead the creation of a Department Action Plan that determines our goals for the academic year and feeds into the larger academic school goals and SLO’s • Departmental Assessments (creating/planning/coordinating) • ESUHSD Benchmarks (coordinating the sharing of packets, work with Ms. Heredia regarding scheduling, assisting teachers with printing or scanning sheets) • Planning and coordinating Collaboration Meetings and materials and recording minutes • Ordering paper, toner, and materials as needed
English Department • Supporting teachers with curriculum planning, materials, resources (workshops, in-service, one-on-one) • Distributing materials, paper, test, etc • Ordering books that we need from our District SAC • Encouraging all members to participate, collaborate, and to see our Common Core planning sessions as productive. • Leading our production of Common Core units of study that will be posted online for all English Teachers to access • Creating an online resource, so that we can conduct walkthroughs during our Spring semester • All, but two English teachers, will be participating in this process of sharing best practices.
Aligning English Curriculum • PLC (English 1, 2, 3, ERWC) planning, coordinating meetings (in-service, summer, and after school), creating agendas, recording and distributing minutes • Leading curriculum planning and follow-up • Placing all items online and sharing with all parties involved, including administration • Leading the implementation of ERWC 9th-11th grade modules • Collaborating and sharing resources with English Teachers in the Special Ed. Department • Collaborate with Principal and APED in order to implement curriculum alignment
School-wide • Have assisted teachers with writing/reading/highlighting & annotating materials upon request across the curriculum • Have worked with teachers on MLA Formatting across the curriculum • Co-founded the Cardinal Writing Center with Ms. Debra Robinson (English Teacher) that supports writing across the curricular areas. • Created the Cardinal Writing Center Online Resource with the assistance and support of Mr. Cavada (Multimedia Teacher) that all MP Teachers can access and utilize • Created Presentations/Trainings/Workshops for students, visitors, and Teachers • Created and continue to create Needed Materials • Planning of Trainings/meetings • Created PR materials
Additional 2nd Semester Projects • Coordinating, facilitating, and conducting English Department Walkthroughs and finalizing online tool to be utilized during said walkthroughs • Continuing to Align English Curriculum, finalizing Common Core Literature Unit Plans, and posting them online for all English Teachers to access and utilize • Developing Online Placement Assessments for English (Writing & Multiple Choice) in collaboration with English Department and APED • Working with English 1 Teachers to create Portfolios and end of the year student led conferences • Providing lesson Planning Support • Planning and facilitating Writing Norming and Scoring Sessions (ERWC/English 1) • Participating in pilot interdisciplinary collaboration group
