Yoga for Kids 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 Karen Corrente’s other passion, besides teaching at Grace of course, is pretty well documented. She is a dedicated yogi with meaningful instructional experience. We cant think of anyone better suited to offer kids in grades 2 through 6 the opportunity to test-drive or, in many cases, revisit this important, thousands-year old discipline . The mind/body/spirit benefits that accompany yoga are many and impart s on those who embrace it a lifelong aptitude toward the quest for peace and self awareness. Children who enroll in this program will learn and practice age-appropriate yoga postures such as Sunrise/Sunset, Tree and Butterfly. This is time well spent. Namaste. Let’s Cook! 5, 6, 7, 8 Cooking is a necessary life skill that benefits those who come to embrace and appreciate it early on. It also offers various opportunities to reinforce other elements of learning. Cooking helps cultivate math and measurement skills, encourages a dialogue about good nutrition, elevates cultural awareness, exposes students to different applications of science and art. It can even inspire the pursuit of travel and language. Julie Reilly, caterer, former restaurant manager, founder of the learning program Chefs of D’Future and self-described foodie will take her program up a notch for upper division students by exploring recipes of elevated sophistication and more diverse ingredients. Along the way they’ll learn basic cooking skills, kitchen safety and sanitation. Bon appétit!
