How to Do a job search? • Make sure you have a base resume and cover letter • Make sure all the spelling on your resume & cover letter is correct • With any interaction you have be humble with the employer. “You need them, they don’t need you.” • Read the job description. If it has Required and you do not have that qualification, don’t apply. • Network. • Make yourself relevant meaning tailor your cover letter and resume. • Emotionally Detach Yourself • Give the Reader What They Want • Never Underestimate the Reader…Be honest! • Gatekeepers are looking to excluded you not include you • Know the process. Resumes are scanned by a computer first before a human ever sees it. (Gouveia, 2012), (Hopkinson, 2012), (Salpeter, 2012), (Benedict, 2012)

It will help with networking • Don’t take freebies! • Send a thank to the companies you talked with. (Robert Half International, 2012)

Is my resume working? Am I getting interviews? Am I getting job offers? • Follow up! Even if it is dropping off a resume or I have faxed a resume to an employer, you must follow up! (BraccioHering, 2011)

No one does that. When the next opening comes around, he'll remember you” • Remember you are trying to fit the company’s needs not yours (Farrell, 2012)
