LEONARDO DA VINCI • Leonardo di ser Pieroda Vinci(April 15, 1452 – May 2, 1519), was an Italiangenius: painter, sculptor, architect, musician, scientist, mathematician, engineer, inventor, anatomist,observor,geologistand writer. • He is widely considered to be one of the greatest painters of all time and perhaps the most talented person ever to have lived. • So I chose him “the artist of the week”.
About His Life • Leonardo was born on April 15, 1452 in Florence. • His full name was "Leonardo di ser Pieroda Vinci”. • In 1482 Leonardo, who according to Vasari was a mosttalented musician, created a silver lyre in the shapeof a horse's head. • 1482 and 1499. He was painted the Virgin of the Rocks, and The Last Supper. The Last Supper is very important now, too.
Leonardo has been known mostly as a painter. Two of his works, the Mona Lisa and The Last Supper, are the most famousportrait and painting of all time • Leonardo's drawing of the Vitruvian Man is also known as a cultural icon. • Some twenty years after Leonardo's death, Francis was reported by the goldsmith and sculptor Benevenuto Cellini as saying: "There had never been another man born in the world who knew as much as Leonardo, not so much about painting, sculpture and architecture, as that he was a very great philosopher."
Leonardo As Painter, Sculptor, Architect, Musician and Writer ; • Among the qualities that make Leonardo's work unique are the techniques that he used in laying on the paint, his detailed knowledge of anatomy, light, botany and geology, his interest in physiognomy and the way in which humans emotion in expression, his using of the human form in figurative composition and his using of the grate tones. • All these qualities come together in his most famous painted works, the Mona Lisa, the Last Supperand the Virgin of the Rocks.
