  2. Presentation Objective • INFORM ON THE WORK AREAS OF THE CWBMP PROJECT • PRESENT THE MAIN POINTS OF THE WORK SESSIONS THIS AFTERNOON

  3. ACTIVITIES • Formulation, review and development of the ECA management plans including zonation into core protection zones, buffer zones, and multi-use zones • Monitoring and evaluation of ECA management

  4. Activities - ctd • Training of ECA management officials • Establish village conservation groups and local ECA committees • Awareness raising : ECAs & globally significant biodiversity at local, central and national level

  5. Activities - ctd • Ecological monitoring programme for ECAs: database collection and management, information dissemination and exchange • Development of biodiversity sustainable use strategies, and of alternative livelihood modalities

  6. Who is going to do the work? • A large project team - about 45 professionals and 16 admin / support staff. • A multidisciplinary team profile, working within a cross-sectoral framework.

  7. And - • Working together on the ground with local communities, local government, central government agencies, NGO partners, civil society, international and national partners, projects & experts.

  8. MAIN TASK OF THE PROJECT • THE FORMULATION AND TESTING OF ECA MANAGEMENT PLANS • THE INCEPTION WORKSHOP TECHNICAL SESSION IS THE FIRST STEP TOWARDS ACHIEVING THIS TASK

  9. EXPECTED IMPACT of the Project • IMPROVED SITUATION FOR SURVIVAL AND REPRODUCTION OF GLOBALLY SIGNIFICANT BIODIVERSITY • IMPROVED CONDITIONS FOR NATURAL RESOURCE-BASED LIVELIHOODS OF ECA COMMUNITIES • ASSURED HEALTHY ECA ECOSYSTEMS – A NATIONAL ASSET

  10. Aim of Technical Session • TO CONTRIBUTE TO ESTABLISHING AN ECA MANAGEMENT PLAN FRAMEWORK • 4 THEME GROUPS WILL WORK ON THIS TO PROVIDE 2 OUTPUTS: • IDENTIFY PRIORITIES • PROVIDE PROPOSALS FOR CONCRETE ACTION
