1. School Information • Check the school website for the latest information • www.frankstonisd.net • Like us on facebook • Follows us on Twitter • Download FISD app • Returning Student Enrollment Forms • Teachers will be on duty at 7:20AM • Teachers will be available for tutorials 3:33 to 4:00 • First bell rings at 7:35AM • School dismisses at 3:33PM • High School Library open until 4:00PM
2. Student Checkout Procedure • Student’s information card is on file in the office • Parents signing students out must sign the sign out sheet • All persons must present a picture ID and be designated to check out a student • NOT ON THE Enrollment CARD – The child will not be released!
3. Attendance • Vital to the education cycle • High Attendance = High Grades • Low Attendance = Low Grades • Check attendance policy in your students handbook • Basic – 90% rule • 75% rule • Students have Two school days to return a note from parents or the absences will be counted as unexcused • Unexcused absences – Students missed work 70% rule
4. GPA and Personal Goals • GPA begins in 9th grade • Difficult to change rank in senior year • GPA and rank are very important for college admission and scholarships
5. Scholarships • Academic • Athletic • Extracurricular • Academic UIL • Chess • Community • Contact School Counselor Mrs. Owens
6. Dress Code • Students report to the Cafeteria in Dress Code • No Hats • No big ear phones • T- Shirts: Blank, College, Military and FISD • Hoodies: Blank, College, Military and FISD • Tucked if shirttail • Boys – Shave – Hair code • A hall pass from a teacher or principal is required for students to be in the hallways before school
7. Dress Code Correction • Student in violation of dress code • Opportunity to correct • Sent to ISS to call parent • Once corrected students may return to class • Office will not provide correct clothing • Office will not provide razors to shave • Student will remain in ISS until dress code issue is corrected • Principal has final approval or disapproval
8. Class Schedule • No schedule changes unless authorized by the counselor or principal • Schedule – Small School • Students must sign up to speak with the counselor during lunch
9. Major Disruptions • May Result in Citation from Law Enforcement • Profanity – Racial, Etc. • Fighting • Threats of violence • Inappropriate use of Cell Phone • Sexting • Cyberbullying • Tobacco on Campus
10. Procedures For Early Dismissal • Note – Early release slip before school • Parent sign-out • Attendance Slips – Before School • Students returning to school must sign in and get an admission pass to class
11. Friday Night Live Program • Program Used for: • Make up work: No zeros • Discipline • Attendance Make-up • Procedures: • Make up Work • Teacher will contact parents by Thursday • Principals will contact parents as needed
12. Friday Night Live! • 3:40PM – 7:40PM Friday night • Must complete all missing the assignments • Failure to complete work in FNL = 0 • Failure to attend FNL = 5 days ISS • Transportation will not be provided
13. Minor Infraction Detentions • Detention Assigned by Teacher • Students have 2 days to serve • After school 3:35 – 4:35 • Failure to serve = FNL
14. Test or Exam Make-up • Student Misses Test • Students makes up the test AFTER SCHOOL • Teacher informs student number of days to complete make up • Test will be given to the detention teacher with instructions • Student who fail to complete test - Zero
15. School Wide Rules • First 20 Minutes of Class Students not permitted to leave class– Tribe Time • Student must remain seated during instruction • Teacher dismisses the class - Not Bell • Students follow proper Protocol
16. Tardy Policy • Per Nine Week Period • 1st Free - each six Weeks • 2nd Tardy = Detention • 3rd Tardy = FNL • 4th = ISS • DON’T BE LATE!!!
17. State Testing Requirements • EOC – End of Course 5 Exams • Freshman year tested • English Reading/Writing • Algebra 1 • Biology • Sophomore year tested • US History • English Reading and Writing • Must pass all EOC exams in order to Graduate
18. Advisory Program Time 32 Minutes: • 1:19 – 1:51 • Monday thru Thursday • Purpose • Tutorials • Club and Class Meetings • UIL Academics
19. Freshman Class Activities • Pep Rally: Parents invited • Spirit Stick Competition • Bowling December • PEP Rally Themes • September 6th – Super Hero • Hall Wall Project for Homecoming • October 25th – Homecoming Week • Attendance Competition • Highest Percentage • Bowling/Movie
20. Stay Involved!!! • Check Backpacks • Check Cell Phones • Check Friends • Check Report card – 75 or below • Check Progress Reports - every 3 weeks. • Sign Report card every NW or disciplinary action • Relationships – Older students • AR Book – Where is it? • Students that read 20min or more a night score in the 90th percentile on Standardized Test • No homework…..Really? • Talk to teachers – Email • Access grades
