What is Standardized Testing? • Standardized Testing is given by an administer and is scored in an constant method How are Standardized Test made? • Standardized Test are made by many experts and research. Then interpretation’s of the questions are scored in a constant method
Standardized Testing There are four types of Standardized Testing • Achievement Test • Aptitude Test • Norm- Referenced Test • Criterion-Referenced Test
Standardized Testing What is Achievement Testing? • Achievement Testing is standardized testing that measures learning in a certain subject
Standardized Testing They are four types of achievement testing • Single-Subject Achievement Testing is when a student is being tested in a particular subject on how much they retained that school year Achievement Batteries are given about every two years to help you assess your performance in reading , math, and other subjects • Diagnostic Testing is administered to help identify weakness and strengths • Competency Testing is a test given to review the ability of a student in reading, writing, and arithmetic Example : If a potential graduate posses the basic foundation for college • Special-Purpose Achievement Test is a test given saying you are certified in a particular subject or testing out of a subject Example: When you become a teacher you may have to take special-purpose achievement test saying you are certified to teach in that subject ; and for college students they can obtain their credits thru the College-Level Examination Program.
Standardized Testing What is Aptitude Testing? • Aptitude Testing evaluates how you can overcome tasks and how you can overcome obstacles in your environment • Also Includes questions on your interest, talents, and hobbies
There are two types of Aptitude Testing • Aptitude Testing is made to indicate the level of knowledge and skill the student has acquired thru affective teaching • Scholastic Aptitude Testing is testing based on the students cognitive skills in witch their out come will show if they can cope with academic demands Example of this is the SAT test ; many other follow as : musical aptitude, electrician aptitude and spatial relation test
Standardized Testing What is Norm-Referenced Test? • Norm-Referenced Test is a test that is compared to other to find a norm(average) • Can be used to help identify needs of person with possible learning disabilities • Most achievement and aptitude test are referred to as this because the results of the test is in reference to norms
Standardized Testing What is Criterion-Referenced Test? • Criterion-Referenced Testing evaluates the amount of mastery of objectives • It is a test that is not compared to other individuals • Are graded on how well they knew certain objective in various areas
