TFI PK5TFI PK-bio ”Hållbara biobränslen” ”Sustainable Bio-fuels” Background and status of the sub-programme TRI Annual Conference Copenhagen, 15.-16.9. 2010 Jakob Kr. Kristjánsson, Arkea - VC Investments Leader of the sub-programme committee TFI PK-bio: MF & JKK (9/2010)
Bio-fuels in Europe – present targets • In 2005 – 2%. Reality was 1%. • In 2010 – 5.75%. Now far away from goal. • Would need 20% of land but only ca. 7% is available • Nordic countries have a lot of forest land available • In 2020 – 10% binding minimum of biofuels • Total renewable energy of 20% • Reducing CO2 by 20% • Energy savings by 20% • Major challenges: Technology, logistics, land for non-food etc.
PK-bio and PK-bio activities PK-members • From all five Nordic countries • One ordinary + one deputy member per country Work method • Physical meetings (5 meetings so far) • Telephone meetings (3 telephone meeting so far) Collaboration • Active participation by all member • Efficient, constructive and problem-free work progress
PK-bio sub-programme scope & limitations Thematic area • Raw material: ligno-cellulose based feed stocks • Processes: bio- and/or thermo-chemical conversion technologies • End-products: liquid and/or gaseous bio-fuels
PK-bio call for proposals 2010 Call details • Integrated projects • Two phase application process • Max 30 M NOK for project financing • Max 10 M NOK/project, max 75 % TFI-financing
