In-vitro antibacterial activity of tomato glycosides

Glycosides were extracted from green tomatoes with ethanol as the solvent. The extracted glycosides were purified by an HPD macroporous resin and a silica gel column, crystallised and then recrystallised to yield white powder. The minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) of the extracted tomato glycosides against Escherichia coli was determined to be 3.54 mg/mL through agar diffusion test. The effects of pH, temperature and reaction time on the anti-bacterial activity of the tomato glycosides were investigated. The bacteriostatic effect of the tomato glycosides was stronger than that of 1.5% sodium benzoate. The tomato glycosides exhibited the strongest anti-bacterial effect at pH 7.

Antibacterial Activity and Phytochemical Analysis of Euphorbia hirta Against Clinical Pathogens

Euphorbia hirta powdered plant material was extracted using two solvents distilled water and methanol. The water extract provide higher yield and also more antibacterial effectiveness than methanol extract used. The well diffusion method was used to determine the antibacterial activity against Escherchia coli, Salmonella typhi, Bacillus subtilis, pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiella pneumoniae. E.hirta plant was investigated for some of their components and antimicrobial activity of their leave extract against bacteria. Phytochemical screening of the crude extracts revealed the presence of tannins, saponins, steroids, flavonoids, terpenoids, and alkaloids.In GC MS analysis, four bioactive phytochemical compounds were identified in the methanolic extract of Euphorbia hirta, the components were identified by comparing their relation indices and mass spectra Fragmentation patterns with those stored on the MS Computer library. This presence of these bioactive constituents has been linked to the antimicrobial activity of the plant material. Dry leaf extracts of E. hirta produced the highest zones of inhibition on Salmonella typhi. The herb E. hirta can be used as source of oral drugs to fight infections caused by susceptible bacteria. Invitro Assessment of Antibacterial and Antioxidant Property of Biofabricated Silver Nanoparticles using Aqueous Extract

Biosynthesis of silver nanoparticles is an eye catching area of a modern research field. It is simple, single step, non toxic and eco friendly method. In the present investigation, the aqueous extract of Bauhinia tomentosa is used to synthesise silver nanoparticles and it was confirmed by UV Visible spectrometer. Due to surface Plasmon resonance, the peak obtained at 440.0 nm. The functional group present at the surface of the silver nanoparticles was confirmed by FT IR analysis. Further, the synthesized silver nanoparticles were subjected to antibacterial activity by Well diffusion method and also antioxidant activity performed by hydrogen peroxide scavenging assay. As concentration of silver nanoparticles increases the bactericidal activity is raised and also the antioxidant activity is increased. Thus it reveals that due to presence of various bioactive compounds present in the plant extract acting as reducing agent to reduce the size of silver ions into silver nanoparticles. The some plants have been good source of drugs for microbial resistance. The research for newer source of antibiotics is a global challenges in pharmaceutical companies. Present time plants are being extensively explored for harboring medicinal properties. Phytochemical are naturally occurring compounds present in the medicinal plants such as flavonoids, steroids, alkaloids and phenolic compounds. Psidium guajava is a phototherapeutic plant used in folk medicine and is believed to have active components that helps in treatment and management of various disease such as wounds, ulcers, etc. Guava extract has exhibited remarkable antimicrobial activity against microorganisms. This study investigates the phytochemical and antibacterial properties of Psidium guajava leaf extracts. Antibacterial activity at the plant extract were determined against K. pneumoniae, S. aureus, E. coli. Psidium guajava leaf extracts provided scientific evidence for the rational use of P. juajava leaves in prevention of disorders due to Presence of some useful phytochemicals and in the treatment of disease caused by some bacterial pathogens such as S. aureus, B. cereus, K. pneumonae, E. coli.
