The southern green stink bug [Nezara viridula (L.)] and the brown stink bug [Euschistus servus (Say)] by Boris A. Castro and Melissa Willrich
The objective of this presentation is to point out some visual differences between the southern green stink bug and the brown stink bug, which are common pests in Louisiana agricultural crops. Only those characteristics easy to distinguish under field conditions are discussed. Biology and habits are not included (in detail). It should be noted that there are many other stink bugs species, which are brown or green in color. This presentation covers only differences between southern green [Nezara viridula (L.)] and brown [Euschistus servus (Say)] stink bugs. Many thanks to Dr. Melissa Willrich for providing ALL the photographs used in this presentation Boris A. Castro, Ph.D. Dept. of Entomology Sept. 2002
