  5. Compromise of 1850 Calf. enters as a free state and Fugitive Slave Law

  6. John Brown led the attack at Harper’s Ferry and was hanged for treason.

  7. In the Kansas- Nebraska Act, slavery was decided by voting.

  8. The Fugitive Slave Law of 1850 said that all citizens had to return runaway slaves.

  9. In the Dred Scott decision, (1857) slavery was made legal in all of the territories.

  10. The 13th amendment banned slavery throughout the nation.
