Situation • Biomedical Photonics is prospering • Many research groups and companies are active in Switzerland • Interdisciplinary collaboration is vital: • Medicine, biology, physics, engineering, computer science • Clinics, universities, institutes of technology and companies • Interaction between groups is insufficient

  4. History • Collaboration in Zurich • 1st meeting June 2003 • Not only Zurich but Switzerland • Workgroup for aims and vision • Emphasis on collaboration • SSOM

Aims of the Network • Advance the scientific exchange and create personal contacts • Platform to promote: • Collaborative projects • Fundamental and applied research • Collaborations with SNF, KTI and industry • Teaching activities • Enhanced transfer between research and industry • Website • Organization of activities, meetings and events
