  1. Dear Managing Director, We are members of the Bath University Student Union (BUSU) and we are interested in hiring someone to put on a display for graduation. We have raised £2000 from students and staff of the University to put on this show and are interested in a 3 minute display with an event appropriate song. We are asking you and several other companies to present a design to us for the show. We will decide on the best design in a few weeks time. You will display a short presentation, including a simulation, safety requirements, budget allocation and site layout. Please see the attached sheet for details of the proposal. The University has two large fields in which we can set up the show. The two possible fields for the fireworks display are on the University’s property. We are not sure which would be the best field to use, and would appreciate your input. There are close-ups of the fields on the following page. In addition, in order to further publicise the event and in keeping with the research focus of our institution, we would like you to produce a short article for our Chemistry undergraduates and an article we can publish in the local paper on an area of new pyrotechnics research. Guidelines for proposals Company Name: Employees names: Your proposal should include the following documentation: Proposed budget allocation (£2000 in total) Including the cost of the system chosen for firing the show Site plan Cue list with prices for each firework and the total cost used Risk assessment 1 page article on an area of pyrotechnics research aimed at second year Chemistry students Half page article on an area of new fireworks research aimed at the general public Costing for a 3 inch shell Your proposal pitch should include the following: Indication of budget allocation Explanation of site and firing plans Overview of safety precautions required Video clip of your fireworks simulation with justification of creative choices Your presentation should be no longer than 4 minutes with 1 minute for questions. We would like to hear from each of your employees on their respective areas of expertise. You will have access to Microsoft PowerPoint and an overhead projector but it is also perfectly acceptable to pitch with a poster or with no other visual aids.
