Has a new local enterprise partnership (LEP): a private-public partnership – to drive the Leeds City Region economy.
The LEP’s vision : working across the private and public sectors to develop the Leeds City Region as the natural alternative to London for investors.
3. The Skills Network… Colleges, Universities and other skills providers have an essential part to play in delivering the skilled workforce.
These organisations have come together in the Skills Network to lead joint working between skills providers and the Leeds City Region LEP and its employment and skills board.
Barnsley College is pleased to be part of the Skills Network and to support this event, organized by the Skills Network and the Employment and Skills Board.
4. Green jobs to 2020 Yorkshire Cities commissioned Quantum Strategy and Technology to produce a piece of research entitled; ‘The Prospects for Green Jobs to 2020’.
The purpose of this event is to communicate some key messages from this research to Further and Higher Education Institutions and work-based learning providers in Leeds City Region.
6. The Think Low Carbon vision To be an internationally recognised centre of excellence for low carbon innovation
To develop the national workforce in sustainable construction and engineering
To develop strong commercial and business relationships
8. How will we achieve this?
Phase 1 – Open the Think Low Carbon Centre
Phase 2 – Build TLC Demonstration Houses
Phase 3 – Build 50 new houses (Code for Sustainable Homes level 5 & 6)
Phase 4 – Build new TLC Construction Training Centre
Phase 5 – Build TLC green incubator/Industrial unit
