EAT FOR GOALS • workshops based on “Eat for Goals”. • created under the patronage of UEFA, World Heart Federation and the European Commission. • to prevent obesity among children and teenagers. • simple message, “A healthy lifestyle is also based on healthy food”, is conveyed by a multi-ethnic group of 13 internationally renowned male and female football players and their food choices. • During the workshop young people have a chance not only to listen to the dietetic, but also to prepare some food together. Social Welfare Municipal Centerfor Social Welfare – MOPS • Organizing activities for and with youth according to standards of CAL (Center for Local Activity): • Local environment mapping in form of „research and actions” – Maps of potential and needs. • Social communication development – ex. civic information centre. • Voluntary services promotion – ex. Volunteer Centers. • Developing of local partnerships, coalition for local development. • Citizens’ activation and mobilization for developing mutual help system – support groups. • Informal education of adults and youth. • Local community integration activities - festivals.

Prevention Gdańsk Centre for Addictions’ Prevention • Established in 2002 by Gdansk City Council’s act • and carries out tasks commissioned by the local government: • Supporting and coordinating of different types of preventive activities in the field of education. • professional training for members of preventive teams who initiate and coordinate different preventive activities in schools, child and youthcare centers and children’s home • supervisions and consultations for school preventive programme makers • conference for teachers, therapists, psychologists and other specialists helping youths and children in difficult (critical) situations

City approach - Summary • Sectorial attitude to youth policy – all thebranches include youth in their general programs, programs implemented by different municipal institutions • low level of coordination (institutional and planning) • many activities meeting youth needs • not sufficient information about them all over the city • main focus on separate projects not programs • low level of youth participation in the City, lack of instruments • not successful experiences with youth councils
