  1. The Knox Youth Group A.K.A Team Aqua Force Go

  2. Our Aim • As part of our Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award we were required to partake in an aim. • We decided that our aim would be to examine the historic buildings along the river where we were canoeing.

  3. The Tweed • We started at Coldstream and finished at Berwick Upon Tweed • In total we travelled 27.9 km • On the first day we travelled 10.5km and on the second day we travelled 17.4km. • At the end of the first day we camped on the Cannyislands

  4. Marjoribanks Monument • The Marjoribanks monument stands 70 feet high and was erected in 1834 to the memory of Charles Marjoribanks who was first MP for Berwickshire. • Charles Marjoribanks was the 3rd son of sir John Marjoribanks. This monument was also erected to commemorate the triumphant victory obtained by the independent and liberal electors of Berwickshire. Here are some photos.

  6. Coldstream Bridge • Coldstream Bridge also known as Smeatons Bridge has seven arches. It was built between 1763-1766 costing £6000. • Robert burns used the bridge to travel back from England back into Scotland and as he reached the end he said • " O SCOTIA ! MY DEAR, MY NATIVE SOIL !FOR WHOM MY WARMEST WISH TO HEAVEN IS SENT !LONG MAY THY HARDY SONS OF RUSTIC TOILBE BLEST WITH HEALTH, AND PEACE, AND SWEET CONTENT.“ showing he was happy to be back

  8. Lennel Church Remains • Lennel parish church was built in the 12th century and was in ruins by 1705. It was about 50 foot long lengthways and 26 foot wide. It was moved to coldstream in the mid 19th century. • To get to Lennel church was a real effort, getting up hills and trudging through nettles. • Here are the pictures we got.

  10. Norham Castle • Norham castle was built in 1121 to guard a ford over the Tweed by RanulphFlambard bishop of Durham • When we reached the castle we couldn't get access to the castle grounds as it was closed and we were to early

A church’s remains • We stopped at the side of the river and went looking for the remains of an un named church as it was to old to know, we had to pass through a few fields to get to the church and when we got there all that was there was the grave yard in a field of nettles so we just took some photos and wrote about it

  14. Paxton house • Paxton house is situated at the banks of the river Tweed. • It was built by the Adam Brothers in 1758 it is one of the greatest examples of 18th century architecture. • Paxton House was also our restroom stop which was well needed for Alex

  16. The Settlement • We were unable to reach the settlement as it was on the side of a cliff. • But here is a video which filmed by Zoe as Alex had next to no sleep. Which made him hyper?

  17. Royal border Bridge • Berwick castle was in ruins and all the bricks that they found were used to make the royal border bridge next to it. • We couldn't reach the ruins as the tide was way too low. • This viaduct with 28 arches was completed in 1850
