  2. 9th China-U.S. LMR Panel Joint Coordination Meeting, Shanghai, China October 19-20, 2012 Background Need • Recognizing that science is international in scope, a Scientific Exchange Program was established in 2009 through a CRA between NOAA Fisheries, PIFSC, Honolulu, HI and Shanghai Ocean University Objective • To foster scholarly exchange and training in the fishery and ecological disciplines, as well as promoting scientific collaborations

  4. 9th China-U.S. LMR Panel Joint Coordination Meeting, Shanghai, China October 19-20, 2012 Activities-Scientific Seminar Series 1st Scientific Symposium • Shanghai Ocean University (SHOU) - April 2009 • 27 participants from NOAA Fisheries and SHOU • Themes: Fishery bycatch; HMS stock assessments modeling; Socioeconomic modeling of fishery systems; Biology and ecology 2011 LMR Panel Mtg- SHOU,CAFS, NOAA Fisheries

  5. 9th China-U.S. LMR Panel Joint Coordination Meeting, Shanghai, China October 19-20, 2012 Activities-Scientific Seminar Series 2nd Scientific Symposium • East China Sea Fisheries Research Institute - April 2012 • 45 participants from CAFS, SHOU, NOAA Fisheries and UH JIMAR • Themes: Fishery bycatchand protected species interactions; HMS stock assessments modeling; Turtle biology and ecology; Biology and ecology

  6. Activities - Visiting Scientist & Visiting Student Program Workplan • 2012 • Dr. Qin (SCSFRI) to PIFSC – August 2012 • Dr. Tang (SCSFRI) to PIFSC – August 2012 • 2013 • SHOU Staff • OTHERS…….
