Snakes live everywhere except Arctic, Antarctica, Iceland, Ireland, New Zealand and some ocean islands. • They can live underground, in trees or water.
Snakes do not chase prey. • They sneak up or camouflage then strike . They use senses to find there prey. They smell prey odors with their tongue .
Snakes eat animals. • They do not chew. • They have double hinged jaws and an elastic throat. • They swallow animals whole and it can take hours.
Small snakes eat, insects, lizards, birds, eggs, fish and rodents. • Larger snakes eat rabbits, deer, monkeys, pigs, chickens, sheep and goats. • It takes months or weeks for the snake to be hungry again.
Poisonous snakes have fangs covered in poison to bite. • Their fangs fold back and forth.
Snakes are more afraid of us then we are of them. • Snakes do not want to attack. • Spread the word!
