The Moon Continued… • Similarities between the moon and Earth: • Both are rocky and fairly dense (thick / hard) • Both have many of the same elements like aluminum, iron, and oxygen. • Both have craters!
The Moon Continued… • Differences between the moon and Earth: • Moon is only about 1/4th the size of the Earth. • Moon’s pull of gravity is about 1/6th that of Earth. (180lb person would weigh 30lbs.) • Moon has almost no atmosphere and no liquid water. • Moon has temperatures from 212 degrees F to –247 degrees F at night. • Moon has more craters.
