  2. There are hundreds of programs on the Internet that offer exercise programs for obese people. The problem here is, they are not fit at all, but need to start some where so it is wise to start slowly. Excessive cardiovascular training can cause injury to the muscles and joints, especially if they are on a daily basis. Walking is the ideal way to start your fitness training. Researchers at the University of Colorado at Boulder found that you burn more calories by walking slowly. The slower pace also puts less stress on the joints.

  3. Adopting the correct posture will work your core muscles and abdominal. If you have a large belly, chances are that you have weak abdominal muscles. To strengthen them suck in your stomach and hold it for the count of five then release them again. Repeat ten to twenty times while you are walking. Walking uses almost every muscle in the body, giving you a thorough work out. The benefits are increased blood flow and circulation, improved health and a strengthened immune system. Another way to start your fitness training is to do exercises in the swimming pool.

  4. The water offers resistance which can double your effort and burn more fat off. The impact on your joints are also easier. Once you have lost some weight, you need to add a challenge to your walk. Carry a set of light dumbbells in each hand. This may not be heavy to begin with but after a while the added weight becomes heavier and burns more fat off.
