2Pac-A hip-hop legend 2Pac (Tupac Shakur Amaru) also known as “Makaveli” was an American rapper. Tupac has sold over 75 million albums worldwide as of 2007, making him one of the best-selling music artists in the world. The themes of most of Tupac's songs are the violence and hardship in inner cities, racism, other social problems, and conflicts with other rappers. ”Rolling Stones Magazine” named him the 86th Greatest Artist of All Time. Tupac was born on June 16 1971 in the East Harlem section of Manhattan in New York City. 2Pac started rapping in the 1990s, when he debuted in a vocal turn in Digital Underground's "Same Song". After his rap debut, he performed with Digital Underground again on the album Sons of the P. Later, he released his first solo album, “2Pacalypse Now”. His second record, “Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z.” was released in 1993. The album did better than the previous one. However, the real commercial success of Tupac Shakur began with his third album titled “Me Against The World” which sold two million copies. His following album, “All Eyez on Me” was Tupac's biggest commercial success. The album debuted at number 1 and has sold 9 million copies ‘till date and is considered among the best rap albums of all times. The rest of the six albums of Tupac were released after his death. Tupac's greatest hit album has sold over 10 million copies in US and is certified Diamond by the RIAA. While attracting attention as a rapper and actor, Tupac gained notoriety for his conflicts with the law as well. Tupac went to prison after being accused of sexual assault on 6 February 1995.He received a sentence of one-and-a-half to four-and-a-half years in prison. Shortly afterwards, he released the album “Me Against the World”. He became the first artist ever to have an album at number one on the Billboard 200 while being in prison. The album sold 240,000 copies in its first week, setting a record for highest first week sales for a solo male rap artist at the time.
After serving eleven months of total sentence 2Pac was released from prison because of Suge Knight, the CEO of “Death Row Records”, who posted a 1.4 million $ bail pending appeal of the conviction in exchange for Tupac to release three albums under the Death Row label. After he got out of jail, Tupac immediately went back to song recording. He began recording his first album with Death Row and released the single "California" soon after. On February 13, 1996, Tupac released his fourth solo album “All Eyez On Me”. It sold over nine million copies. Tupac continued to produce hundreds of tracks during his time at “Death Row”. Is he dead or not? Well, here are several answers. Some say that on September 7, 1996 when he was going back from a boxing match he was shot. Others say he is alive and faked his death and that he will return in 2014 at age 43. I personally believe that Tupac is still alive and I’m waiting for 2014. After having disappeared he received several honors. He was ranked as No.3 on VH1's 50 Greatest Hip Hop Artists. He was listed as the No.1 MC on MTV’S “22 Greatest MCs”. A Vibe magazine poll in 2004 rated Tupac "the greatest rapper of all time" as voted by fans. Tupac was honored for his undeniable voice and talent and as a performer who crossed racial, ethnic, cultural and medium lines on October, 17 2006. I chose to write about 2Pac because he is one of my favourite artists and his songs were not about women, money and other subjects that you hear today. In my opinion 2Pac is a legend and the best rapper of all time and also one of the most regrettable artists. -The picture taken just twenty minutes before the drive-by shooting.
Music, our lullaby! I’m sure everyone loves music. Even though the tastes aren’t the same, sometimes music is the only thing we have. When we feel alone or happy there will always be a song for each of these feelings. It’s strange sometimes how a song can make you think about the past, the memories you have, bad or good they will always be in your heart. You can’t simply forget about it. Two years ago I started to listen to Korean pop which brought me new friends, another kind of life. I was obsessed about all the new things about Korea and specially the music , even though I couldn’t understand the lyrics it simply entered in my heart and made me feel happy. First band whose songs I’ve heard was DBSK (Dong Bang Shin Ki). I could listen to their songs all day long. Then I joined their fan club and met new people. Due to them I changed the way I was, I started to socialize with people from there and know more and more everyday. After a year DBSK disbanded because of some problems they had with their company. It was a shock for moment and I wasn’t the only one that felt like that, all their fans did. But for me they will always be my favourite band. Even though they started to go on different ways, the feelings I have when I listen to their songs won’t change. Never, ever. We still hope they will be back together as five, one day… Sometimes people think I am crazy because I listen to Asian music, but I really don’t care about their opinion. Music was there for me when I felt sad, happy, angry and so on ~~ Anyway as time passed they got used to it. Also, I listen to more kinds of songs, different artists from different countries. I don’t think I am the only one that finds herself in the lyrics and believe that music is a part of ourselves, it’s like a drug.
Antonio Lucio Vivaldi Vivaldi was a violinist, priest and a composer. Vivaldi was born on 4th March 1678 in the Republic of Venice, today part of Italy, his father was Giovanni Battista, a baker before becoming a professional violinist, who taught his son to play violin. Vivaldi is considered to have been one of the composers who brought Baroque music to evolve into a new style . Johann Sebastian Bach was influenced by Vivaldi’s concerts and transcribed a number of Vivaldi’s concerts for solo keyboard .Igor Stravinsky provocatively said that Vivaldi had not written hundreds of concerts but one concert hundreds of times. Vivaldi’s life, like those of many composers of the time, ended in poverty. Vivaldi could not resist so he sold most of the manuscripts to finance a migration to Vienna. Reasons for Vivaldis departure from Venice are unclear, but it seems likely that he wished to meet Charles VI who adored him and take up the position of royal composer in the emperor’s Imperial Court. However, shortly after Vivaldi’s arrival at Vienna, Charles died after eating several poisonous mushrooms. This tragic stroke of bad luck left the composer without royal protection and a source of income. Vivaldi had to sell off more manuscripts to make ends meet and eventually died not long after, in 1741. He was given an unmarked pauper’s grave. Equally unfortunate, his music was to fall into obscurity and Vivaldi was forgotten until the twentieth century. His burial spot is next to the Karlskirche in Vienna, at the site of the Technical Institute. More recently some of his works have very successfully been given a fiery and passionate interpretation which appears to more accurately reflect the composer’s state of mind. In my opinion and of course of the experts the best of Vivaldi’s work was composed in 1723. “The Four Seasons” is Vivaldi’s best known work, and is among the most popular pieces of Baroque music. The texture of each concert is varied, each resembling its respective season. At the end of this article I want to say that Antonio Lucio Vivaldi was not only a great composer, he was a faithful man.
