Who uses EUMEDCONNECT? • EUMEDCONNECT supports projects across a wide range of disciplines ranging from high-energy physics (SESAME/ATLAS project) to e-learning. • Many projects are particularly pertinent to the Mediterranean region and of high societal impact: • e-health (thalassaemia research, epilepsy surgery etc.) • climate research (desertification) • e-learning • preservation/reconstruction of cultural heritage (epigonion) • The underlying network infrastructure for • Currently it serves over 2 million users in the region projects

How does EUMEDCONNECT2 benefit? • Dedicated, high-capacity international connectivity not normally available or affordable over the commercial Internet • Supports data-intensive, time-critical applications between geographically distributed collaborating partners and institutions • High-quality links that are managed by the EUMEDCONNECT project and its suppliers • Technical advice and support available via NREN partners • NB End to end bandwidths and quality achieved also depend on the national networks and campus networks.
