N&A Actions For November 2007 • Latest News: Litsa Micheli-Tzanakou elected EAB VP for 2008 • EAB N & A Chair invites nominations for 2008 EAB Committee Chairs and other Committee positions originally due November 1st to r.toscano@ieee.org. • EAB N&A Chair will share the nominations with Litsa, the new 2008 EAB VP • EAB Committees include: RAB Reps (2), TAB Reps (2), SA Rep, N & A, FinCom, SPC, ARC, PECC, APC, CPEC, PAC, SEOC, SOOC
Marketing and Sales Committee (1 of 2) • IEEE’s sales force has been promoting Expert Now for over a year: • Prospects are initially enthusiastic – several major companies have trialed • Consistent feedback from prospects indicates a lack of “critical mass” in any given technology • There seems to be a focus on using the Xplore platform for Expert Now • Xplore’s Gerry Grenier says that Xplore does not intend to have an LMS – Jonathan Dahl and his people must be so educated • EAD must continue to add to Expert Now modules so as to make the Library more relevant and attractive
Marketing and Sales Committee (2 of 2) • Korean Consortium (75 schools) plans to order Expert Now with IEL renewal before end of 2007: • Access through Thomson/Skillsoft platform – so will use LMS • $412,500 for 12 months of access • Obtained through respect for IEEE content and outstanding sales agent • Will help us understand needs of academic market
PSPB • An Open Access set of guidelines were discussed but no “Plan B” identified • Xplore treats Expert Now modules as “articles” and accordingly stores and dispenses them • Press’ Editor, Mo El-Hawary, being replaced • Barbara Lange reviewed new data mining tools for subscribers and authors • Latest News: John Baillieul continues as PSPB VP in 2008
