  4. A deadlyweapon In position 1 appears the probosciswhichis the huntingtool of the snail. It ishidden in the mouth but when a preyisreachable, itspreads up like a harpoondelivering a powerfulvenom. The proboscis can extend longer than twice the size of the snail

  5. A powerfulvenom • The venom of the Marbled Cone Snail is designed to paralyze its victim allowing the snail to feast at its leisure. The snail’s venom is a neurotoxin that causes coordination loss and weakness. Local pain, numbness, and swelling may occur in its victims. • In some case respiratory muscle paralysis may lead to death. • There is no antivenom yet. • The venom is the same than the venom of the blue-ring octopus. It is called tetrodotoxin. It is a powerfulneurotoxin. The venomalsocontainshyalurodinase, tyramine, histamine, tryptamine, octopamine, taurine, acetylcholine, and dopamine.

  6. The VenomApparatus The venom apparatus in all cone snails comprises, a venom bulb which creates and pushes the venom out, venom duct to transfer the venom from the bulb to the radularsac which stock venom.

  7. The MarbledConesnail • One drop of its venom is so powerful that it can kill more than 20 humans. • It is ranked in the top 10 of the most dangerous animals. • We count around 30 human deaths due to the marbled cone snail.
