  4. Grammar 1. Past Perfect Tense(Davno prošlo vrijeme) USE • Da govorimo o prošlim događajima koji su se desili prije nekih drugih prošlih događaja: John had heard the joke before so he didn’t laugh. She didn’t know that he had got married. We took the train because the last bus had already left.

  5. Grammar 1. Past Perfect Tense(Davno prošlo vrijeme) 2. Upotrebljavamo Past Perfect i Past Simple u jednoj rečenici da bi pokazali redoslijed prošlih događaja (događaj izražen Past Perfect tensom se desio ranije): When we arrived at the theatre, the play had already started. He didn’t realise that someone had robbed his safe.

  6. Grammar 1. Past Perfect Tense(Davno prošlo vrijeme) 3. S prilozima after i before često upotrebljavamo Past Simple, radije nego Past Perfect zato što ovi veznici sami po sebi dovoljno jasno pokazuju redoslijed radnji He left after he had finished the test. / He left after he finished the test.

  7. Grammar 1. Past Perfect Tense(Davno prošlo vrijeme) 4. Uz prilog as soon as obično upotrebljavamo Past Perfect: She phoned me as soon as she had found my telephone number.

  8. Grammar 2. Used to i Would 1. Upotrebljavamo used to i would da govorimo o radnjama koje su se u prošlosti redovito ponavljale, ali se više ne događaju; a ovakvu konstrukciju obično prevodimo sa “nekada sam” ili “običavao sam”: We used to live in a crowded flat and now we have a comfortable house. I would often take my kids to the cinema when they were younger. (I don’t take them to the cinema anymore).

  9. Grammar 2. Used to i Would 2. Would upotrebljavamo da govorimo o radnjama, a used to da govorimo i o radnjama i o stanjima: At college we would play basketball every day. = At college we used to play baskeball every day. He would sit in front of TV all days.= He used to sit in front of TV all days. I used to like horror films when I was young, NOT I would like horror films when I was young.

  10. Grammar 2. Used to i Would FORM I used to like that little cafe. He didn’t use to be as fit as he is these days. We didn’t use to like sailing when we lived in Cannes. Did you use to live with your parents when you were a student?
