Where we’re at ECSVideo Infrastructure • Tandberg Video Communication Server • aka the Gatekeeper • Early March legacy Polycom users experienced dropped calls • Phone calls thru gateway were dropped • Rollback to Radvision gatekeeper • Tandberg support involved and provided loaner test system • Recent tests replicated drops S. What we’re doingInvestigating solutions ReadyTalk - audio meetings & web collaboration University of CA Office of the President (UCOP) signed contract for UC campuses and could be extended to ESnet replacement solution for ECS MeetingPlace audio/data bridge? still not WebEx or Adobe Connect need to consider short & long term issues registration process acceptable use policy strategic direction of outsourcing services S. Investigating solutions (cont’d) • LHC Collaborative Environment Board • CERN/IT AV & Collaborative Services • LHC experiment representatives • technical experts • three RCWG members • Purpose is to select and operate a LHC remote collaboration environment • Activities so far: • Collected requirements from community • Selected tools to evaluate • Starting pilot project phase soon S. Pending Action Item for RCWG? • “The RCWG has been tasked by the NLCIO to develop a path forward which should include a security model; this plan should be shared with the NLCIO” • What are the security issues? • What are the security requirements? • How should the security requirements be gathered? • RCWG active membership represents mostly the HEP and open science labs that use ECS • One RCWG member is also a member of the National Nuclear Security Administraion (NNSA) videoconferencing operations working group S.
