  3. Professional Education You must apply and be admitted to professional education before taking education courses numbered 2000 and above. Example: EDTE 2000, EDTE 2010, EDTE 2020

  4. Professional Education • Requirements • Complete 30 semester hours • Overall GPA of 3.00 • Maintain GPA of at least 2.75 after admission to professional education

  5. Professional Education • Entrance Test Requirements • One of the following • ACT composite of 21 or higher • SAT combined score of 990 or higher • Passing PRAXIS I scores

  6. Professional Education • PRAXIS I Requirements • Computer based test • To schedule call 1-800-772-9476 • To schedule online www.ets.org/praxis • Passing scores • 173 Reading • 172 Math and 172 Writing

  7. Professional Education • Early Childhood Majors: Complete the following with a “C” or better • EDEC 1600 and EDEC 1001 • Tier I freshman composition • Natural Science with a lab • Math 1101 • HIST 2000, 2010 or POLS 1010

  8. Professional Education • Middle, Special, and Integrated Education: Complete the following with a “C” or better • PSY 1010 • Tier I freshman composition • Tier I mathematics • EDTE 1500

  9. Professional Education • Include with application • BCI background check • FBI background check • Tuberculosis (TB) skin test results

  10. Professional Education • BCI and FBI Background Checks at OUPD • Located in Scott Quad • Monday – Friday: 8am to 7pm • Saturday: 10am to 2pm • $58 cash or check • Bring your driver’s license • Know your social security number

  11. Professional Education • BCI and FBI Background Checks • www.ohioattorneygeneral.gov • Valid for one year • Send the results to you. Keep the original document and attach a copy to the advanced standing application.

  12. Professional Education • TB Skin Test • $15 Hudson Health • Given Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays from 8:30 to 4:30 pm (varies during breaks) • Health Department on Union: FREE tests • Call in advance at 740-592-4431

  13. Professional Education • A few tips • Early Childhood and & Special Education: Apply to selective admissions • Apply to advanced standing at 60 credit hours • Apply to professional internship at 90 hours • Apply for graduation your senior year •  CONTINUE MEETING WITH YOUR ADVISOR 
