A path to excellence • The Virtual College Center at FTCC enjoyed its grand opening on June 5th, 2008 and we are excited about our achievements • Establishing a innovation hub for our BRAC RTF 11 County partners • Graduating Simulation Modeling Technicians – Capstone learning • Training and Hiring Disabled American Veterans • Simulation Based Learning / Visual Learning Object Repository • Translating RAW technology into working labs with real definable missions • Creating a public private partnership

  4. BRAC RTF – Innovation Hub • The All American center for workforce development • Establishing a innovation hub for our BRAC RTF 11 County partners • Driving best method practices across the 11 counties • Creating a content consortium for interactive learning technologies / SBL

Graduating SMT’s • The Virtual College Center graduated its first 16 Certificate program for: • Simulation Modeling Technicians • The curriculum consisted of: • C# (sharp) programming • GIS • 3D Studio Max / Photoshop • AutoCAD / Drafting • Capstone Learning – Learn by doing! • 12 Weeks into the course • Cumberland county • Google Earth • Embedded EON 3D • Program Management • Taught thru TelePresence

  6. Disabled American Veterans Nic Phillips (center) received his Disabled American Veteran (DAV) Life Member pin from two other lifetime members. Present to do the honors were (from left) Al Patterson, chairman of the board for Navigator Development Group Inc. and Wally Tyson, national second junior vice commander for the DAV.

SBL and VLOR • Our Innovation Team for i3D is using the technology and is creating a reusable hierarchy: • Tier 1 - Visual Learning Objects • Level 1 – Show • Level 2 – Show & Do • Level 3 – Tell, Show, Do, Ask and Track • Tier 2 – Immersive Learning Modules • Tier 3 – Simulation Based Learning • All stored in a Visual Learning Object Repository (VLOR)

Translating Technology • The Virtual College Center at FTCC has translated technology capability into working labs: • Virtual eye to eye communication through our Telepresence Lab • Virtual Reality through our Immersive Learning Lab’s CAVE environment • Virtual Learning through Visual Learning Labs • Virtual presentation technology at our Experience and Discovery Lab creates “Edutainment” • Virtual learning integrated with our Broadcast Studio & Lab • Virtual Reality Development in our Development Lab

Telepresence Lab • Mission: The Tele-presence Lab provides an innovation hub for advance distance learning and human interaction that provides cognitive eye-to-eye contact in order to allow for more effective collaboration of ideas, learning and discovery. • On a daily basis we: • Virtually communicate ideas, learning and vision more effectively • Virtually collaborate in real time eye-to-eye sessions • Virtually accelerate decision making and discovery

Immersive Learning Lab • Mission: The Immersive Learning Lab provides a CAVE environment in order to create a realistic learning by doing experience. • On a daily basis our students: • Virtually become part of an immersive learning environment • Learn by doing in a Virtual Reality 360 degree environment

Experience & Discovery Lab • Mission: The Experience and Discovery Lab provides an exciting and innovative method of knowledge transfer in order for audiences to discover new ideas and concepts through "edutainment.“ • On a daily basis our students, faculty and industry: • Experience an exciting and innovative method of knowledge transfer • Reach out to the K-12

Visual Learning Lab • Mission:The Visual Learning Labs provides an exciting and stimulating learning environment so that students and faculty can virtually and visually communicate their ideas and discovery. • On a daily basis our students and faculty: • Virtually and visually communicate their ideas and discovery in a 3D stereoscopic classroom • Learn by doing in a visually exciting and stimulating environment

Broadcast Studio & Lab • Mission: The Broadcast Studio & Lab provides digital and 3D media in a leading edge environment so that students and faculty learn how to integrate virtual technologies with traditional and emerging broadcast technologies. • On a daily basis our students and faculty: • Learn how to integrate virtual technologies with traditional and emerging broadcast technologies in an innovative environment • 3D TV technology • CG Technology

The Development Lab • Mission: The Development provides 3D content lifecycle support in order to support advanced distance and simulation based initiatives for workforce and economic development. • On a daily basis our team: • Keeps the center running • Builds content • Trains staff and students
