  4. STEP 2: USER ROLES First step toward on making the membership site functional. WordPress only offers limited user roles at base: Subscriber, Contributor, Author, Editor, Administrator. You might add "member," "premium member" or more. Log into the admin section of your site and go to Users > Roles, and click on add new.
