TRASH TO TREASURES 3-D ART CONTEST for KYNG Kids In conjunction with Earth Day 2006, the Kentucky National Guard is sponsoring a Trash to Treasures 3-D Art Contest. for KYNG children. Each participant prepares artwork using at least three items that can be recycled (see list below for recyclable materials). The children should use their imaginations and design anything of interest to them. The KYNG will display and judge all art submitted during the Annual National Guard Association Conference at the Galt House in Louisville, 10-11 February 2006. To enter, fill out entry form (attached) and bring artwork to the KYARNG Environmental Office at Facilities Division in Frankfort by COB Thursday 9 February OR bring to the Environmental Office display at the NGAKY Conference in Louisville not later than 5:30PM on Friday 10 February. NGA attendees will vote for winners in each category during the exhibitor reception between 6-8PM Friday and on Saturday morning until 11AM. Winners will be announced at the end of the business session on Saturday. WINNERS KYNG winners in each category will receive recognition and prizes. KYNG will photograph the Kentucky winners and send photos to NGB. In addition, KYNG winners artwork will be displayed during Kentucky Earth Day activities in Frankfort. FOUR AGE CATEGORIES PARTICIPANTS Elementary School - Kindergarten - 2nd grade Must be a child or grandchild of any KY Guardsmen, Elementary School - 3rd - 5th grade KYNG or DMA staff member or retiree Middle School - 6th - 8th gradeHigh School - 9th - 12th grade MATERIALS - Minimum of three different types of recyclable materials must be used. For example: Aluminum cans, glass bottles, plastic bottles, plastic bottle caps, aluminum bottle caps, cardboard, paperboard (ex. cereal boxes, cracker boxes, etc), and plastic bags.
