It is a very good idea for health care professionals to undergo the CPR-Heartsaver program. The general public can go ahead and take the BLS program. In the BLS program the applicants are taught the general life saving techniques as well as the usage of proper equipment including the essential CPR skills which are needed. Learning the usage of an AED device In these programs the applicants are also taught how to use an automated external defibrillator or AED. This is a battery operated device which can be used to deliver a shock to the victim’s heart. This shock helps in making sure that the heart is rebooted and proper oxygen flow continues. The device has pads which are applied to the victim’s chest and after that the the device calculates the heart beat and rhythm. The device will promptly notify the person performing the AED to go for the shock if the victim is falling unconscious or has stopped breathing. It should be noted that the shock treatment should not be applied if the applicant is awake. The CPR AED certification can be a valuable asset and it is always better to know how to perform a CPR or use an AED device.
