  1. Business Case Template A template for securing HRTech funding

  2. Agenda • The problem we are trying to solve • What the problem is costing our business • The solution to the problem • Our plan for change management • Realistic return on investment

  3. The Problem The problem statement should be: • Straight-forward • Specific • Actionable • Data driven • Bringing your leadership into your problem Example: The average worker in on the market for 10 days. Currently, it takes us 40 days to fill a job. We would aim to close that gap.

  4. The Cost of the Problem Your C-suite needs hard numbers. Frame the problem this way: • Cost per hire reduction • Time to fill reduction • Efficiencies created • This will impact the two items above Example: The average worker in on the market for 10 days. Currently, it takes us 40 days to fill a job. We would aim to close that gap. By closing the gap by 10 days, we could save the company $118,000/year. See the notes section for how this is calculated.

  5. The Solution The solution section should have: • Data! • A realistic approach • More than 50% of projects fail • Assumptions • A (SWOT) exploration • SWOT = Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats • A clear path to solving the problem • An understanding of risks associated with the solution

  6. Change Management Plan This section should cover the following: • How you plan to roll this out • The project plan • How you will get the team to adopt the solution • The adoption plan • How this plan is reasonable • How this plan is achievable

  7. Realistic ROI Your ROI should be: • Hard numbers • Data driven • Focused on “realistic” • Achievable • Do not over-promise Hint:If you think the ROI is aggressive, lower the assumptions. Show that it is reasonably achievable. Show data and trends that demonstrate how the solution will get there.
