The History of our Project • The project is based upon the Wyre Forest Schools review undertaken between 2002-2007 • Extensive consultation • Change from 3 tier to 2 tier education • Closure of 45 schools • Opening of 30 new schools: 25 Primary 5 Secondary • SEN review: Creation of new, 220 place, 2-19 Special School New 60 place KS3/4 PRU

The History of our Project • The Authority has committed £50m of its own capital to support the change to primary schools • 7 new primary schools to be built • 1 Sutton Park already completed • 1 Birchen Coppice under construction • 5 in design • WCC have always made it clear that BSF investment is required to bring forward the Secondary estate • WCC formally entered the BSF programme on 2nd Dec 2008

5. What we are Proposing • 4 new build secondary schools: Baxter, King Charles I, Stourport and Wolverley • 1 partial new build secondary school: Bewdley • 1 new build Special School • 1 KS3/4 Pupil Referral Unit • 5900 pupils • £123m capex inclusive of £8.5m for ICT

6. What we are Proposing • We are also proposing the construction of three 2 form entry primary schools on the BSF sites • Funding has been secured for these schools which are additional to the 7 new primaries referred to earlier • We will be looking to the LEP to deliver these 3 schools

Commitment and Participation • This is a key Corporate priority • It has the full support of Members, Schools, Headteachers and Governors • There is a high level of project governance and scrutiny • The Authority has committed £4.5m revenue support for BSF procurement • The Authority has provided funding to release Headteachers and Senior staff on this project • Pupils and schools have been engaged through work with the Sorrell Foundation and Futurelab

27. BSF Going Forward • The Wyre Forest is the first of a total of 5 waves of BSF investment in the County • Our follow-on waves will be: • Worcester City and Malvern • Redditch • Wychavon • Bromsgrove • There is a total of 28 secondary schools in Worcestershire • We all have a responsibility to ensure our initial investment sets the benchmark for the future
