What is Bullying? • Bullying: The act of intimidating a weaker person to make them do something. • Bullying comes in many forms; Physical, Verbal, Cyber bullying are a few examples. • Causes: Issues as home, peer pressure, emotional instability.
Bullying in Schools • Bullying has been reported as occurring in every school and kindergarten or day-care environment in which it has been investigated. • Often Comes in the form of Cyber Bullying • Is a widespread problem
Cyber Bullying • Causes depression (and in extreme cases, suicide) • Often, cyber bullies feel like they can get away with bullying because it is indirect. • Emails, MSN, texts
Dealing with bullying • Encourage your child to stay with groups of friends. Bullies generally pass over victims that have even one or two friends with them • Self-Defense training • Encourage confidence in the victim. • Witty Comebacks.
