Bullying can be defined as the activity of repeated aggressive behavior intended to hurt another person physically or mentally. Bullying is characterized by an individual behaving in a certain way to gain power over another person.
Bullying consists of three basic types of abuse- emotional, verbal, and physical. It typically involved intimidation. Bullying may include name calling, verbal or written abuse, exclusion from activities, and physical abuse. The U.S. National Center for education statistics states that bullying can be classified into two groups: Direct bullying and indirect bullying.
Direct Bullying: involves physical aggression such as shoving, poking, throwing things, slapping, choking, punching, kicking, Indirect Bullying: (social aggression) involves isolation, manipulation, gossip, criticizing, and spreading rumors.

Cyber Bullying Cyber bullying is the use of the Internet or other technological devices to harm other people in a hostile, deliberate, or repeated manner. One of the advantages for the person that is bullying is that they can remain virtually anonymous. Cyber bullying can penetrate the walls of the home, a place where victims of bullying usually come to seek refuge. This can lead to extreme isolation. Victims have lower self esteems, increased suicidal, ideation, and a variety of emotional responses. Cyber bullying is not limited to children and teens, adults experience cyber stalking, and cyber harrassment.
